ASUU Calls Off Strike, ASUU Strike Update: ASUU Calls Off Strike is currently making rounds of Social Media. After the speculations about the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has called off the strike, students took to the platform to celebrate the end of the strike. Currently, at the time of writing this article, #ASUU is currently trending at the 6th position on Twitter.
In the latest comment, Dr. Dele Ashiru who is Chairman of the University of Lagos, UNILAG chapter of the union has told that nothing such has happened and the strike has not been called off by ASUU.
Commenting on the speculations, Mr. Akinreti Ashiru member of the National Executive Committee of the Union has said:
The union is still on strike…If we are going to call off our going strike, there is a process that will be followed and nothing of such has been done…
Just to recall, ASUU has called for the strike in the month of March 2020, for a protracted dispute with the Nigerian government over issues connected to poor funding of public universities. Every time the dispute boiled over to strike by the teachers, negotiations between the two parties always produced agreements.
